Social

                    Action

Social Action has been engraved within Delta Sigma Theta since we were founded, so naturally the Social Action Committee serves to ensure our members possess a heightened community awareness about pressing socio-political issues impacting the community.

The Social Action Committee works to organize voter education and registration activities, helps to plan Delta Day at the State Capital and sends representatives to Washington, D.C. for Delta’s annual legislative conference, Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital. The Social Action Committee educates and stimulates participation in established public policy through:

o Census

o Social Action Commission

o Delta Days in the Nation's Capital

o Delta Days at the State Capital

o Impact Day of Service

In addition, the committee conducts advocacy activities that ensure citizen, institutional, governmental, and organizational response to the emerging and perennial needs of the community (with special emphasis on African Americans in Northern Virginia). This is achieved through providing cultural enrichment activities and encouraging Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in advocacy and collaborative program activities that improve the well-being of families in Northern Virginia.

For more information about this community program, you may contact the committee chair at socialaction@dstnovac.org.
