NOTABLE PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

 Soror Current-Felder was the Director of the Urban Studies Program at Virginia Union University. She held many executive-level positions at organizations such as the United Methodist General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, the Northern Virginia Branch of the Washington Urban League, and the Alexandria Inter-Agency Council where she was honored as an “Outstanding Young Women of America” in 1977. She was a member of the Sorority’s National Social Action Commission and served as chair of its Resolution Committee. She also served as the 6th Executive Director of the Sorority, and authored two books titled 

Breaking Barriers: An African American Family and the Methodist Story and The School of Dreams in the Valley of Hope: The Africa University Story. 

 

NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS CHAPTER PRESIDENT:

 Under her administration, the chapter received two awards: the Outstanding Support to the Life of Black Colleges and the Delta Sigma Theta Distinguished Professor Chair. The previously performed play, In Pursuit of a Dream, was presented in May 1978 at the South Atlantic Regional Conference in Greensboro. 

In 1978, the chapter initiated 11 new members. 

NEW PROGRAMS OR INITIATIVES IMPLEMENTED:

   Reading Is Fundamental was established in 1978 serving five programs in Arlington, Virginia. One of the most significant events during this period was the Voter Registration Drive   

 

PRESIDENTIAL NUGGET TO IMPART ON NOVAC:

 Soror Current-Felder emphasizes compassion—one of the most important of our nine cardinal virtues that a Delta should maintain.
